The recent persistent strike actions ongoing in the Nigerian education sector appear to be paralyzing activities and constituting a slowdown in the growth the nation’s economy as observed by the education, oil and gas sectors.

The Industrial Strike Action has been going on for some years as a result of the failure of the federal government to implement some key section in the agreement entered with the unions.

However the unions has since 2009 been showing their grievances on the non-implementation by the federal government of the bargain.

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has also joined the strike train still on the issue of non-implementation of agreement entered in 2009, on the part of the government and there has not seemed to be any remedy in view to address the situation.
