34-year-old Yoruba Nation leader, Olamilekan Odofin, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, in connection with attacks on its officers and some motorists in January 2023.

Olamilekan and some members of the SouthWest separatist group stormed Ojota, Lagos state to disrupt commercial and social activities as they demanded the creation of a Yoruba nation from Nigeria.

Members of the secessionist group shot at two police officers during the clash. Olamilekan and others fled the scene after the clash.

In an update shared today January 26, the spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Olamilekan has been arrested after being on the run for over a year.

‘’After over a year on the run, 34-year-old Olamilekan Odofin has been arrested by officers of Ayobo Division. The suspect, on January 9, 2023, championed attacks on motorists and the police under the guise of Yoruba Nation agitation. Investigation is ongoing.''
