The free medical intervention scheme organised by the Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF) in collaboration with Doctors on the Move Africa (DOTMA), to provide free surgery for 2000 people in Oyo State has come to an end.
The programme sponsored by Honourable Temitope Olatoye Sugar representing Lagelu/Akinyele constituency in Oyo State commenced on the 2nd of February and was concluded today, 20th February.
The health intervention scheme featured free medical tests, issuance of corrective glasses to patients with eye problems and free surgery was conducted for people suffering from cataract, hernia and fibroid.
The Chief Medical Director of Our Lady of Apostle Catholic Hospital, Oluyoro, Oke Offa, Dr Paul Adegoke noted that all the surgeries conducted were successful and the patients are all hale and hearty. He appreciated Hon Sugar for the noble scheme which has impacted the lives of the beneficiaries positively.
Hon Sugar appreciated the efforts of the management of the hospital in providing the necessary health care and for their cooperation and commendable coordination in conducting the surgeries without hitches.
The lawmaker also appreciated the good people of Oyo State for turning out en-mass to participate in the free health care scheme. He noted that although everyone who registered for the surgery could not be attended to because the turnout was more than the budgeted 2000 people.
Hon Sugar however assured that those who could not be operated on will be attended to during the second phase of the free health scheme which will come up in four months’ time, adding that the OSF health intervention scheme will now take place every four months in order to alleviate diseases in the state.
