Union Bank commissions 5 Branches in Benin

In celebration of its 100 years of banking in Nigeria, Union Bank PLC has on Wednesday, commissioned five branches in Benin City, Edo State.

During the unveiling ceremony, The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr Emeka Emuwa said the bank over the last decades have re-invented itself to meet with modern banking techniques that makes transaction simpler and smarter for all its customers adding that “ Edo State is part of the bank’s heritage and very dear to Union bank.

Speaking about the safety of online transactions, Mr Emuwa Wednesday urged its numerous customers to embrace the bank’s internet online platforms for easy transaction just as it allay fears in certain quarters that money cannot disappear through internet banking.

The Transformation Director of the Bank, Joe Mbulu, on his part said all the branches in Country are undergoing what he described as unique transformation with a state of the art digital centre.

He said “Our digital centre is the best in the banking industry and we also have a backup should anything goes wrong we fall over and that we have done before now, we are refurbishing all our branches across the Country, we have not only build the technology, we have transformed the branches to make it more convenient and make transaction seamless.

“Our ATM is in the lobby to make it convenient for users, by the way our mobile and internet platform are actually first in class, we have products and service that are tailored to customer need so we are really there for the people.

While responding to question from newsmen, Mbulu added that despite the mass sack witnessed in the some banks in the Country Union Bank  have over time has embarked on training of its staff with meet up to the challenges of modern day banking for efficiency.

He stated “Our focus is to make sure that our staffs are trained, so every quarter we trained our staff and bring them up to the expected standard and customers need. So we are not focus to fire but to train.

The branches unveiled includes; Alero Obazee, the Akpakpava , Mission road, Uselu/ Lagos road,  Ekpoma and Ikpoba Hill branches.
