Over a claim made by the Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello, on the state’s invasion by Boko haram insurgents, the National Coordinator, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Frontier, Mr Usman Okai Austin has refuted the governor’s claim.

According to Ceoafrica, in a statement yesterday, the youth leader who lamented that criminality is on the increase in the state since the start of Governor Bello's administration asked him to address the insecurity problems forthwith or resign as the governor of the state.

Okai said that the governor is creating unnecessary panic. In his words "the excuse of the governor on the invasion of some members of Boko Haram sect was a blatant lie, diversionary and unsubstantiated as the real reasons behind the security problems is the refusal of the government to deploy funds where they were originally meant ".

He added that "yesterday, the Governor who wasn't properly briefed, made negative statements on Kogi state's security situation that embarrassed the state. It is unfortunate that the governor who has lost controls of the state described his own state as 'Safe Haven for Boko Haram'.

"I wondered what kogi governor has been doing with the security votes of the state despite the huge allocation attracted to the state in the last one year and some months without commensurate actions.

"The prevalent kidnappings, armed robbery, wanton killings and other social vices in the state are highly unacceptable and will be resisted by rising against the present government to throw in the towel without further delay ".

‎He called on the federal government to urgently intervene in order to protect law abiding kogi state people, stressing that the current administration had failed the people particularly in the area of security.
