Teacher kidnapped in Ekiti state.

The police command in Ekiti state yesterday confirmed the kidnap of a teacher simply identified as Mr Festus Olatunde Oke.

According to Ceoafrica, security operatives said that the incident happened around 6pm on Monday at along Ise-Ikere road while he was returning from work.

It was also learnt that the abductors took Oke and reportedly led him away into the forest.

Oke, it was learnt, had visited Ado Ekiti from his station and was returning with his wife and mother in his Toyota Camry car when the kidnappers intercepted them.

The kidnappers were said to have collected the phones of his wife and mother and abandoned them in the car but led Oke into the bush.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Alberto Adeyemi, while confirming the incident said: "The report of the abduction has been brought to us and we have begun investigations. Action is being taken for the safe release of the kidnapped victim".

Sources at the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) also said the news got to the union’s secretariat on Tuesday, adding that the union had swung into action.
