Bauchi State government has reiterated its commitment to establish reform policies for sanitation and safe public water supply.

This disclosure was made by Bauchi State commissioner for water resources, Ghali Abdulhamid, on Wednesday in Bauchi while delivering a speech at the 2017 World Water Day celebration Tagged "Water, Waste Water".

The commissioner while delivering his speech lamented that a large percentage of drinking water in the state is contaminated which he said was responsible for waterborne diseases like cholera, polio, diarrhoea and other  diseases.

He said "Such water can be used in watering flower beds, gardens, washing bikes and cars as not to waste water within our environment.”

The commissioner said the state government in collaboration with UNICEF has provided hand pump boreholes in various locations in the state to reduce shortage of water being faced by the people.
