Moments after South Africa’s finance minister was recalled for a foreign trip, the value of South Africa's currency, the rand, has continued to fall against the dollar amidst rumours that Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, is about to be sacked.

According to Ceoafrica, a chart showed the fall began at 04:50am.

The rand first came under pressure on Monday when Mr Gordhan, seen as a safe p

air of hands by many investors, was recalled from a foreign trip.

It was thought this was a prelude to his sacking.

A newspaper’s front page also revealed that the finance minister and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas, are "on their way out".
