The teacher abducted in Ekiti State, Mr Festus Olatunde Oke, on Monday last week, has regained his freedom.

According to Ceoafrica, sources close to the family confirmed his freedom, declaring that it was “a relief to us all”.

The source refused to disclose if a ransom was paid, saying “the story we want to tell is that our father and brother has regained his freedom and we thank God for his safe return”.

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ekiti State Wing, S.O. Olugbesan, confirmed that his member had regained freedom.

Also confirming the development, the Secretary of NUT in the state, Mr Olugbenga Ajibade, said “his family told us that he was freed on Saturday”.

On whether the family and the union paid a ransom, Ajibade said “the issue has gone beyond that and we just want to thank God that our member returned in peace”.

Mr Festus Olatunde Oke was kidnapped at Ise–Ikere road, by unknown people on Monday, March 20, 2017.
