As Nigeria prepares for May 29 Democracy day, which also marks the second year anniversary of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, a Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor, Hon Mathew Oyedokun has expounded on the efforts of the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria (APC) administration within the two years of its election.

Speaking on ‘Community Today’ an online television programme on the platform of CEOAfrica, Hon Oyedokun who is the Special Adviser on Solid Minerals to the Governor Abiola Ajimobi commended the efforts of the APC-led administration in effecting its promised ‘change’ in the last two years.

Oyedokun, who is a chieftain of the APC, however stated that the APC-led administration encountered some challenges when it first took over the helms of affair in 2015 which caused a delay in effecting some of its proposed policies.

“I must say that when APC came into power, we met an empty house; things were in terrible shape; there was nothing to work with,” Oyedokun said “Before APC came, people were busy looting money and causing unrest in the country. So, when we came in, we had to practically start from the scratch. This really slowed down APC’s plans to implement its promises because it had to deal with the mess it inherited.”

Oyedokun however assured that in spite of its challenges, the APC-led administration will make the nation better than it was. “It may take a while to sort the mess out, but I can assure you that before the expiration of the tenure of APC, Nigeria will be great again,” he assured.

Responding to a question about the selective and bias nature of the anti-corruption war being waged by the APC-led government, Oyedokun, who was a member of Oyo State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003, debunked the claim, stressing that the government is not witch-hunting the opposition with its anti-corruption war.

Oyedokun stated that those who were accused were prosecuted were found to be guilty. “Those who were fingered by whistle-blowers were investigated and then arraigned by the EFCC. Our judicial system is there to give the final judgement. Besides there are also some members of APC who are also currently being prosecuted for corruption,” he said.

He added that some claims made by some persons that the government is trying to frame them by planting money in their houses were false. He said “Where would the government get the money to plant in someone’s house and who will go and do the planting anyway? These claims are just mere here say.”
