The next Governor of Oyo State must be someone who shares the same vision and has the same goals as Governor Abiola Ajimobi, says Ajimobi’s aide, Hon Matthew Oyedokun.

Oyedokun made this statement during an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica on the organisation’s online Television programme, ‘Community Today’.

Oyedokun, who is the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Solid Minerals, stated that the Governor has spent the last six years restructuring and reorganising the state and as such would want a successor who will keep on his legacy and continue where he left off.

Responding to a question about the possibility of an Oke-Ogun person becoming the next governor, Oyedokun who is also from Oke-Ogun, stated that it is possible as long as the candidate canvasses for the support of every zone in the state.

He said “An Oke-Ogun man can become the next governor but he must seek the support of people in Ibadan, Ogbomosho and all the other zones, not to mention the support of the incumbent governor. Oke-Ogun people alone cannot make a person governor. It is the support of the whole state that can do that.”

He further advised that it is important for anyone aspiring to be the next governor to seek the favour and approval of the current governor.

When asked about his future political aspirations, Oyedokun stated that although he is a politician, he is more interested in concentrating on his mining profession at the moment. He also explained that as a politician, his philosophy is 'service to humanity' so if his people call for his service, then he will oblige them just as he did when he ran for a position in the Oyo State House of Assembly in 1999.
