Baring his mind on the crisis between himself and Aseyin of Iseyin Land Oba Ganiyu Adekunle Salawu during a lunch media chat organized by the South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) at CEO Africa building in Ibadan on Saturday 22^nd July 2017, the Minister of Communications Barr Abdul Adebayo Shittu said that he has no issues with the Oba of Iseyin Land but he will not fold his hands and allow anyone defame his character by addressing him a fanatic.

It will be recalled that some days back, the Aseyin was quoted by some media organisations (Not CEOAfrica) to have described Barr Shittu as a stingy politician and a religious fanatic

Barrister Shittu in his statement at the media chat said that his crisis with the Aseyin started when the traditional ruler addressed him as being stingy and a religious extremist which is not true as people surrounding him can attest to that. He said that much as he respects the royal stool as a Yoruba man, he will not allow anyone dent his image by calling him names because he did not give money to him.

Speaking further on the crisis, Barr Shittu said he cannot give what he does not have as he will not spend his money illegally like corrupt politicians do in the past but will spend more on those things that will impact on the lives of the masses in Oyo State.

 The Communication Minister further said “I am committed to putting up projects that will better the lot of the good people of Oyo state than giving unnecessary money to individuals who do not have a say on my governorship ambition”.

Restating his determination to clinch the number one seat in the state, Barr Shittu said that as long as he can remember, there is no gatekeeper in Nigeria or APC constitution and no one irrespective of the position can prevent him from contesting for the Governorship of Oyo state.

The minister reinforced that when people know that you have refused to be like them in their negative ways of societal vices like drinking, corruption and womanizing, they tend to blacklist you and call you names.

His words: “The sense of criminality in people is what makes them hate on us for not being a part of them”. He further said that no matter what they say or do against him, he will never bow to their pressures.

 Shittu  reiterated by saying “ anyone who addresses me  as a fanatic should come forward with an evidence of where and what I have done  to be labelled as one, if up till this moment there is no evidences,  it means all accusations are baseless and I remain unbothered.”
