In the spirit of the up-coming Eid al-Adha season, the Former Secretary to the Oyo State Government and the Labour Party Gubernatorial running mate to Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala at the 2015 general elections, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has expressed good wishes for Muslim faithfuls in Oyo state and the country in general.

In a statement made available to CEOAfrica, Barrister Ali, who is also the Asaju Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, congratulated Muslims on the grace given by Allah to witness another year of Eid al-Adah and wished them Barkah de Salah.

Eid al-Adha, which marks on of Muslim’s holy season, means Festival/Feast of the Sacrifice. It marks the date when Allah appeared to Ibrahim in a dream and asked him to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, to show his devotion. Ibrahim was about to go ahead when Allah stopped him and gave him a lamb to slaughter.

As part of this festival, Muslims traditionally sacrifice domestic animals - usually a sheep, goat or cow - to represent the sacrifice in the original story, if they can afford to do so.
