THE Director-General of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, has said the huge number of unemployed Nigerians is a threat to the viability of existing companies, as patronage and security are necessary for businesses to thrive.

Mr. Oshinowo spoke in Lagos at the launch of NECApreneur, an e-learning solution targeted at providing an easy-to-access opportunity for unemployed youths and graduates to access skills, empowerment and mentorship.

According to him, “unemployment can lead to big security risk for businesses, so the more we do to get youths and jobless undergraduates off the streets, the better for the economy. “NECApreneur is particularly designed for youths and undergraduates in Nigeria and the whole idea is to create an environment where we can get our undergraduates to think entrepreneurship before they leave the university.” He noted that “those who have left school and are unable to get a job would be motivated to embrace entrepreneurship as well.”

Also speaking at the launch, Mrs Anna Oyebanjo, CEO of Imagine Business Services, said after the multi-pronged NECApreneur training, participants will be exposed to mentorship, credit and loan facilities, monitoring and other incentives.
