The Commissioner of Police Delta State Command CP Zanna Muhammed Ibrahim, has inaugurated a peace committee on Farmers/Herdsmen clash in Delta state at the conference hall of the Command Headquarters Asaba, on Thursday, November 16th 2017.

This was contained in a press release signed by DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command and made available to CEOAFRICA.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Commissioner of Police noted that the Committee is constituted to promote harmonious relationship between farmers and herdsmen in the State and should act in alternative dispute resolution of conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

The Police Boss further charged the committee members to ensure that they pro-actively nip in the bud any tendencies that would bring about misunderstanding between communities and Herdsmen likely to cause the breach of the peace in the State.

The CP expressing his belief that the newly inaugurated committee will greatly help to reduce tensions arising from herdsmen/farmers clashes in the State, called on the members of the committee to justify their selection by the State government by working honestly and tirelessly towards realizing the reign of peace in the State.

The Chairman of the Committee Chief Cassidy Iloba, who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the governor of the State in his remark assured the CP of the unreserved commitment and focus of the Committee towards achieving the purpose for which it was set up.
