A former Deputy Vice-chancellor, two current Deputy Vice-chancellors, and two professors are currently battling to lead the university for the next six months in an acting capacity.

This is following the directive from the National Universities Commission (NUC) that requested the Senate of University to meet on Monday to select one of its members as the acting Vice-chancellor of the premier university.

The directive became expedient following the expiration of the tenure of Prof. Idowu Olayinka today.

The five professors who have been nominated to head the university include; Professors Adebola Ekanola (DVC),Adenike Adeyemo (DVC), Adigun Agbaje (Ex-DVC) ,Ayo Oluleye and Gbemisola Oke.

The meeting is being presided over by the Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Olayinka Omigbodun.

 Voting is on-going, and the outcome will be communicated to the Governing Council for ratification.
