Stray bullet killed one, 5 injured as Customs officers and youths clash in Ogun

One person has been confirmed dead while five others injured by stray bullets on Tuesday morning during a clash between men of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and some youth in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident, it was gathered happened at the Kikelomo area in Ayetoro on Tuesday, December 22, after Custom officials stormed the community following a tip-off on smuggling activities.

The stray bullets were allegedly fired by the customs officers while trying to evacuate alleged smuggled bags of rice.

One of the victims identified as Sola was hit and killed while driving his motorcycle around the at Social Club area of Kikelomo. 

The Head of News at Fresh 105.9 FM, Ibadan, Samson Akindele, who confirmed the incident said the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told him that at least five persons have been injured in the clash.

Meanwhile, some Facebook users have shared a photo of the deceased man.
