A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on Monday, has ordered that the Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore and four other activists be detained in Kuje Correctional Centre till the hearing of their bail applications.

It was reported that Sowore and other activists were accused of three charges: conspiracy, unlawful assembly and attempt to incite the public to protest, which were, however, denied by the activists.

According to report, Sowore and the activists’ formal bail applications would be heard on Tuesday, January 5, 1020.

The activists were earlier arrested on the New Year’s in Abuja and then taken to a police unit known as “Abattoir” in the Lokogoma area.

“We have been sent to the infamous Kuje Prison for the next 24 hours while they plot their next moves. But we are very resolute and convinced that this year will be different for the tyrant! #RevolutionNow,” Sowore tweeted on Monday.
