The House Speaker of the United States, Nancy Pelosi, has ordered U.S Vice President Mike Pence to invoke constitutional authority for immediate removal of President Donald Trump from office over alleged violence caused by his supporters at the country’s Capitol.

The US House Speaker said on Sunday that the House would go ahead with the impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump if the Vice President refuses to comply with the order.

On Monday, Pelosi’s leadership team will seek a vote on a resolution calling on the Vice President and Cabinet officials to invoke the 25th Amendment, a constitutional provision that allows the vice president and the Cabinet to remove the president from office if they deem him unable to perform his duties.

“We will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat.

“The horror of the ongoing assault on our democracy perpetrated by this President is intensified and so is the immediate need for action,

“That’s what has to happen now,” she said.

The call to Trump’s impeachment is in few days to the end of his tenure and inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden as the 46th U.S President.
