COVID-19: Rivers orders civil servants to stay off from work

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has ordered all civil servants on grade level 1 to 13 to work from home with effect from today, Wednesday.

Governor Wike gaveĀ  the order in a statement made by the State Head of Service, Dr Rufus Godwins, on Tuesday.

It was stated that the directive was due to the current increase of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The State Government, thereby implored all all permanent secretaries and heads of extra-ministerial offices to ensure complete compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

The state Immunisation Officer, Joseph Urang in Port Harcourt had earlier disclosed that Rivers state has enough capacity to store the COVID-19 vaccines coming into the country.

According to a report on the website of the Primary Healthcare Management Board, Rivers State has 16 code chain equipments in four local government areas.

Code chain is known as a system of transporting and storing vaccines within a safe temperature range.
