Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network congratulates Okonjo-Iweala on her appointment as DG of WTO, pledges its total support

The Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN) has joined the world to congratulate Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her appointment as the first female Director General of World Trade Organisation (WTO).

WEPDN, in its congratulatory message signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Mrs Affiong Israel Ibanga, which was made available to CEOAFRICA on Wednesday, stated that the emergence of the former Minister of Finance as the first woman and African to take up the leadership mantle of WTO has served as an inspiration and door-opener to women around the world.

The statement added that the appointment of the WTO’s DG made both career and entrepreneur woman of today’s world immensely proud.    

The NGO, therefore, expressed its undiluted support to the new leadership of WTO, adding that “We (WEPDN) will be more than glad to work with you to achieve a common goal.”

The statement reads: “The Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN) will love to congratulate you on your appointment as the first female Director - General of the World Trade Organisation.

“Thank you for constantly smashing multiple ceilings and inspiring us women that we are made for the top.

“Thank you for being a trailblazer leaving the door open for women around the world.

“Thank you for making both the career and entrepreneur woman of Today’s world immensely proud.

“As you resume office, please know that you have our undiluted support and we will be more than glad to work with you to achieve a common goal.

 “Do have unwavering success as you serve diligently and promote free trade to the benefit of people worldwide.”  

Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN) is a Non- Governmental Organisation led by the vibrant Iyalode of Yoruba Land, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, to help professionals and entrepreneurs overcome barriers in business and in life generally.

The NGO has branches in major cities of Nigeria, and partners with some African Countries.
