PDP appoints Amori as Chairman screening committee for Abuja Council Area election

Nigeria- Wednesday, 14 April 2021: The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the appointment of Senator Ighyota Amori to serve as Chairman of the party’s screening committee for Abuja Area Council election.

This was made known in a letter signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), which was obtained by CEOAFRICA.

The letter reads that Chief Amori is to chair the five man committee which is to screen all “Councillorship and Chairmanship Aspirants for the upcoming 2022 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections.”

According to the letter, the screening exercise is scheduled to hold from Thursday, April 15th to Friday, April 16th, 2021, at the Party Secretariat, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

Akobundu further revealed that Mrs. Josephine Ejeh, Hon. Mahmoud Mohammed and Kalu Eni are appointed as members, while Dr. Felix Woboso is appointed as the Secretary of the Screening Committee.

The newly appointed members of the committee are advised to be strictly guided by the PDP Constitution, electoral guidelines for the conduct of Local Government Council Elections and the Electoral Act, 2010, as amended.

“It is expected that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to the rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the party.

“Please be advised to also take into proper account the provisions of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Contro (NCDC) guidelines on COVID-19 as they concern social distancing and the gathering of people in one place,” the statement added.
