Nigeria – Saturday, 17 April 2021: Winner of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 4 in 2019, Mercy Eke, has said no man is responsible for her success, adding that she worked hard for everything she possesses.

The BBnaija celebrity disclosed this in a video she uploaded on her YouTube channel.

Mercy Eke lamented on the notion that a man is always behind the success of a woman, whether single or married.

She noted that she found it “appalling” when people are of the belief that a particular man is behind all that she owes.

“In this part of the world, people believe a man is behind the success of a woman, whether she is married or single. I work hard for everything I own today. When people say a man is behind these things, I find it appalling. However, it does not get to me anymore because what else would one say? It only shows that my success is visible,” she stated.

Eke also revealed that the relationship between her and Ike Onyema, a former housemate (BBNaija), had ended long time ago.

She said, “Break up happened. We are done. That ship sank a long time ago. I am in a happy place and he is good as well. Stop flooding my timeline with this silly question; we are over. So, let’s just keep it moving.”

The BBnaija celebrity also expressed in her video that “My biggest fear in life is failure. I don’t want to fail and go back to the streets. I don’t want to roast corn anymore. I just want to keep doing what I know how to do best. God has blessed me. The fear of failure makes me stronger. I want to be a better person. I want today to be better than yesterday. That is why no matter what is thrown at me, I would never stop growing. I would never stop establishing myself and I would never stop dreaming.”

She added that “I worked hard for this fame and I won’t let the fame get to me. Sometimes, I even forget that I am a celebrity. I drive myself and do things a normal person does.”
