WASPEN set for 2024 Conference, to address advancement of clinical nutritional care

All is set for the 2024 Conference of the West African Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (WASPEN), an organisation committed to the advancement and improvement of nutritional care in West Africa.

The 2024 WASPEN conference will hold from Monday June 3, 2024 to Friday June 7, 2024 at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Hall 36, Lagos State, Nigeria.

With the wealth of experience and expertise of the Founder/President of WASPEN, Dr. Teresa Isichei Pounds, the conference targeted at Medical Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Nutrition Enthusiasts, Lab Scientists, and Government bodies, will focus on enhancing quality assurance in clinical nutrition services, fostering patient centred approaches for both adult and paediatric population, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration for comprehensive care, exploring innovations in nutritional therapy, strategic consideration for sustainable healthcare economics, among others.

Besides being the Founder/President of WASPEN, Dr. Pounds, a Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Pharmacy (FNAPharm), Chairperson of the Nigerian Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Scientist Association (NAPPSA) and Member of ASPEN (American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition), is dedicated to developing clinical pharmacy training programs both locally and internationally.

While the Chairman of the occasion is the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Federal Ministry of Health, Professor Ali Muhammed Pate; the Chief Host is the Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Professor Wasiu ‘Lanre Adeyemo (FAS).

Keynote Speaker of the conference is the Special Adviser on Health to the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Yemi Ogunyemi. Special Guests are the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Professor Cyril Usifoh and the President, Dietitian Association of Nigeria (DAN), Professor Olivia Afam-Anene.

The registration fee for regular attendees is set at #30,000 with an early bird discount available for those who register before May 17, bringing the fee down to #25,000. Researchers and post-graduate students fee ais #20,000 and undergraduates are to register for a flat fee of #10,000.
