Eight host communities to Oil Mining Lease (OML) 30 in Ughelli North, Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas of Delta State, have vowed to shut down operations of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) should the company fail to implement the terms of agreement it reached with the communities in September 2014.

President Generals of the eight communities, under the aegis of Forum of Communities Executives of Flow Station in OML 30, in a statement, said that they would withdraw all service staff of OML 30 communities in the next seven days if the company fails to implement the terms of agreement.
They said: “While we have fulfilled our part of the terms of agreement, NPDC has flouted almost every part of the accord reached with OML 30 communities.”

When contacted, NPDC Director of Community Relation, Mr. Dahiru Abubakar, who signed the agreement on behalf of NPDC, said though the matter was within the purview of his department, he does not have the mandate to speak on issues relating to NPDC within host communities.

At press time, efforts to reach the Manager, External Relations, Mr. Ugo Atugbokoh were unsuccessful.
