Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has called for more delegation of Powers to State governments by the Federal Government.

He said that more funds and responsibilities should be given to the States and local governments.

Adding that he does not believe in the federal Government ministries, instead States need most of the Ministries and agencies.

Adding that, given States more powers and proper funding will bring development to the grassroots. Concentration of powers at the Federal level leads to bureaucracy.

The current revenue formular that gives the Federal Government 52.68 percent of the Statutory allocation, the 36 States share 26.72 percent while 774 Local governments take the remaining 20.60 percent of revenue will not bring the desired result said Atiku

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) are currently working on new revenue formular for the country. The revenue was last reviewed on in 1992 and it was modified in 2004.
