ANUPA holds workshop on excellence in university administration

The Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) is holding a four-day workshop on May 22-25, 2024. The training is for senior university administrators and it comes up at Idris Abdulkadir Auditorium, National University Commission, Maitama, Abuja.

The theme of the training workshop is Sustaining a Culture of Excellence in University Administration. Five keynote speakers are billed to address various topics at the interactive, practical hands-on conference. These are:

• Barrister Titus Ifeanyi Igwe, registrar, Alex Ekweme Federal University, Abakaliki – The Role of Professional University: Administrator in Synergization of E-Administration and Student Support Services.

• Mr. Nasir Bellow, former registrar, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina – Strategies for Effective Interviewing: A Practical Guide to Securing Appointments in the University System.

• Mr. Oyedipe Oladimeji Adefemi, deputy registrar, National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja – Embracing Diversity: The Importance of Blending, Equity and Inclusion in University Administration.

• Dr. Ebenezer Ayoola Felix, deputy registrar and administrative secretary, Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri – Managing Emotional Intelligence and Stress Threshold in the Face of Evolving Economy and Job Performance in the University Setting.

• Mr. Sam C. Mwansat, former ANUPA national president – Expectant Collaboration, Synergy and Adaptability Roles of the Professional Administrators in Identifying and Deploying the Right Strategies in University Administration in the Face of Global Competitiveness.

ANUPA National Public Relations Officer (NPRO), Dr. Donald Akinmade, said that certificates of attendance will be issued to attendees, and that the event will sharpen the professional skills of senior university management staff at addressing the unique needs of their various institutions. He noted that attendees will also interact and network with other colleagues from other universities to improve the university system in Nigeria.

ANUPA national president, Dr. Victor Mkuma Bem, who revealed that ANUPA is the brainchild of Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU), said this upcoming training seminar will equip professional university administrators with the requisite skills for enhanced academic governance.

“The present executive committee under my watch shall strive to enhance best global administrative practices in our universities and other institutions…and we look forward to receiving necessary support from all stakeholders towards ensuring better university administration for societal progress,” Bem stated.
