Dr. Adekoya Olatunde Owosibo, the Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State, has become a household name with significantly known for relevance, awards of recognitions and honours for landmark achievements.
The Animal Science expert with specialisation in Monogastric Animal Nutrition and Management has yet again raised his bars of achievements and international recognitions at the workshop and maiden award ceremony of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), lbadan branch, held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
With laudable landmark achievements to his credit, the Chief Executive Officer of the FCAH&PT was crowned as the Life Patron of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), lbadan branch.
The coordinator and initiator of awards ceremony, a Professor of Toxicology University of Ibadan, Prof. Aina Adeogun, explained the necessity and worthiness of the awards to distinguished personalities who have made contributory marks to the success of the nation, and served as role models for others to achieve great heights in their respective careers.
“We rarely celebrate our mentors and achievers when they are retired. OWSD Ibadan is trying to bring a new perspective into the way we view retirement. So, we realize that we cannot be where we are if not for the sacrifices of these distinguished women (and men). And that’s why we are starting this initiative, and we are encouraging all sectors in the University of Ibadan and other institutions to set up a day to celebrate our retired members,” she said.
This new feat is an addition to Owosibo’s bag of honours as he was recently given the Academic Leadership Award at the 49th Annual Conference of the National Society for Animal Production (NSAP) in collaboration with the University of Ibadan (U.I) in recognition of his academic excellence in the field of animal science and agriculture. He is also a Fellow of Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) and Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS).
Recall that in a recent features story on CEOAFRICA, Owosibo was described as the “bulldozer” transforming Animal Health in Nigeria for global impact. This recent honour has confirmed the affirmation as entirely true.
He is a Registered Animal Scientist (RAS) who has displayed versatility as a leader at the Federal College of Animal Health having served in many capacities, offices and department before he became Provost. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition from the University of Ibadan in 1995 and 1998 respectively; and was awarded a PhD in Animal Science with specialization in Monogastrics Animal Nutrition.
Owosibo is a member of several national and international professional bodies including Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Animal Science and World Poultry Science Association, to mention a few.
