Former First Lady Patience Jonathan, says she is too old to return to the Presidential Villa.
Her husband, Dr Goodluck Jonathan was Nigeria’s President between 2010 to 2015. He as Vice-President completed the tenure of his principal, Umaru Yar’Adua who died in office in 2010.
Jonathan then contested and won the 2011 election. His dream for reelection hit the rocks as he was defeated in 2015 by the opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari who went on to serve for two terms.
Rumour had it there were plans for Jonathan who was of the People Democratic Party to join Buhari’s All Progressives Congress to vie for for its presidential flag. It turned out that Jonathan was not involved in the primary election in which Bola Tinubu emerged the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 elections. Tinubu is now in his second year as Nigeria’s President.
But Jonathan’s wife in an event on Friday was heard saying she could not cope with the stress associated with Aso Rock.
She said she was too old to return to the Presidential Villa as First Lady.
She said: “If you call me now for villa, I won’t go there. I won’t. Don’t you see how young I am? The stress is so much.
“The stress of Nigeria is so much. If God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify God and thank him. It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.
“He has taken you there once. why do you want to go there again? Me I won’t go oo”
