It was great delight and gladness as the 1972/1974 set of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT) Ibadan, Oyo State, has held its 50th Anniversary Reunion in grand style.
The exciting gathering of men and women mostly reuniting after fifty years of graduation at the college was a beautiful sight to behold as the event held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at their alma mater in Ibadan.
Graced by many retired individuals who have served the country in their respective capacities and professions, the aged but young-looking personalities of the set shared the experiences of their journey so far in life, amidst laughter and excitement.
The President of the set, Hon. Prince Oreoluwa Fabunmi who could not hide his joy while stating his congratulations on achieving the reality of the reunion, encouraged his old classmates to ensure proper records and availability of their ages and next of kin. He assured he would commit himself to praying for every member of the set.
Present at the event to welcome the 72/74 set, the Provost of the college, Dr. Adekoya Olatunde Owosibo, expressed his joy on the efforts of the old students to give back to the college system and hold a reunion. He described it as a thing of joy that the event took place during his administration.
Announcing some of the many contributions of the national alumni body to the campus, Owosibo highlighted that the alumni body had donated public male and female toilets for the institution, laid a foundation of an alumni building during the 60th anniversary of the institution held earlier this year.
He also added that individuals among the alumni body have also contributed immensely to training off and outside the campus, among the employment opportunities made available for the students of the school after graduation.
The Provost mentioned the huge contributions of the CEO of Animal Care Services Konsult, Dr. And Dr Mrs. Tunde Agbato. He then welcomed the senior alumni body to the college and wished them a great event.
Dr Owosibo futher thanked the organisers, Mr Leke Dada ‘Baba meto and ACG (rtd)Dr Akinduro H.O and others.
In his remarks, the National President of the Alumni body of the College, Mr Femi Lumpkin, appreciated God on behalf of the celebrants, challenging them to go round and see the improvements going on in the campus.
Lumpkin appreciated the management and Provost of the college, who according to him, have made a lot of things to happen in the college, telling his audience that “you are our daddies. I want you to take it upon yourselves to find out the progress of the college concerning the alumni body.
Priding that “you would not know the importance of this college until you go and practise outside the country,” the Alumni President challenged the college Provost to make way for graduates from the college to have easy access to higher education aside from Higher National Diploma (HND).
The Registrar of the college, Mr. Nathaniel Adeolu Jolaiya, while congratulating the celebrants encouraged the set to try as much as possible to publicise the school, and ensure their children and grandchildren attend the institution.
Other exciting features at the event were, reunion interactive session, food and drinks, as well as stage dancing galore.
In attendance at the event are, a lecturer of the set, Prof. Akin Sofoluwe (rtd), CEO Animal Care and Services Konsult Nigeria Ltd, Dame Olufunmilayo Agbato; the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Ogunleke Funmilayo and the Principal Officers of the College ; the 72/74 class set, friends and families.
