The family of Late Elder Iyennoma Igbinomwanhia Eghomwanre on Friday 12th July 2024, gave a befitting burial to their late father at his home town Benin, in Edo State, Nigeria .

Family, friends, colleagues, church members, and well-wishers gathered to bid the retired Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) official a final farewell with a funeral service held at his residence at 14, Izekor Street, Off ChrisMerry/ Iyoba Road, off Textile Mill Road, Benin City by the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) Midwest Region 71.

The funeral service was part of the week-long activities for the burial of late Elder Eghomwanre which began on Monday 8th July 2024 with a Service of Songs and Tribute Night held in his honour at the Ade Adegbite Hall Shepherdhill Baptist Church Compound, Obanikoro Bus Stop, Ikorodu Lagos by the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Anthony Village Branch Lagos State.

The remains of Elder Eghomwanre arrived at the Benin Airport, Benin City, Edo State on Thursday 11th July 2024 for his final burial rites.

A wake keep was held in his honour with family members performing their final burial rites with dancing to traditional musicians and DJ to entertain the well-wishers over the night.

The funeral Service and internment for the great icon were held on Friday 12th July at his residence as hundreds of family members, colleagues, associates, church members, and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects in honour of Elder Eghomwanre.

While reading the biography of his late father, Pharm. Dr. Amen Eghomwanre described his father as a great man. He also appreciated all those present at the funeral service especially the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. Prof. Cyril Usifoh, his wife Dr. Stella Usifoh, and members of the PSN.

Elder Eghomwanre started his career as a teacher at St Andrews College, Owo as a young graduate and proceeded to be a banker at the default Standard Bank, Benin. He furthered his education as he went to the Prestigious University of Ibadan where he studied Economics between 1970 and 1973. He was one of the pioneers of the National Youth Service Corps in 1973 where he served his beloved country in Lagos State with the Lagos State Internal Revenue as the Inspector of the task. He began his civil service career with the Federal Ministry of Economic Development.

As a man who loves academics, he further pursued his education to the Master's level outside the country. Upon his return to Nigeria, he was employed with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as a Senior Materials Administrative Officer in Lagos. He served in various subsidiaries of NNPC and rose to different levels before he retired as a Manager in 1995. Elder Eghomwanre was a member of different social clubs during his lifetime such as the Edo Renaissance Club and Eghomwanre Union. As a dedicated child of God and an avid reader, Elder Eghomwanre in his pursuit of spiritual knowledge attended the Word of Faith Bible Institute in 1997 and MFM School of Prayer in 2010.

‘Though our much-cherished father has gone to be with his creator, his full breath will remain indelible in the life of all who encountered him during his work, and career life”, he concluded.

Speaking with CEOAFRICA, Pharm. Amen Eghomwanre described his father as a good man and an achiever of purpose. To him, age is not a barrier. As long as you are alive, you can pursue and achieve your dreams.

He said his father lived for others. "He was a selfless man who always denied himself pleasure for others to live and enjoy". He appreciated all who were present from the kinsmen, in-laws, friends, and well-wishers from far and near and those who participated online to bid his father farewell.

Dr. Chidinma Eghomwanre while speaking with CEOAFRICA described her Father-in-law as a man of love and peace. She appreciated all who came to pay their last respect to the great patriarch and wished them journey mercy to their destinations. She also appreciated CEOAFRICA for the show of professionalism displayed during the burial.

She stated that the legacy of Elder Eghomwanre would be immortalized by raising a foundation in his memory.

While speaking on behalf of the in-laws, Mrs. Ezinmwa Okarafor described Elder Eghomwanre as a Distinguished man who sought the good of others and cared about his inlaws.

Present at the reception and entertainment of guests of Elder Eghomwanre held at Noah’s Ark Marquee (Former Emporium) JBS Estate, Off Boundary Road, GRA, Benin City, Edo State on Saturday 13th July 2024 are Major General Julius Osifoh, the Commandant Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration with his brother Mr Patrick Osifo, members of the PSN, Dr. Patrick Okundia, the former Commissioner for Health, Edo State, Chief Nosa Omoregie from the Benin Kingdom, Ministers of God, family members, friends and well-wishers.

Elder Eghomwanre was survived by wife, Mrs. Beatrice Eghomwanre, sons Pharm. Dr. Amen Eghomwanre, Mr Michael Eghomwanre, Mr Fortune Eghomwanre, Mr Esoa Eghomwanre and daughter Mrs Linda, in-laws and grandchildren.
