The People Democratic Movement (PDM) has directed its followers across Nigeria to elect either of the more prominent presidential candidates between the All Progressives Congress, (APC)’s Muhammadu Buhari and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)’s Goodluck Jonathan.

However, the party warned its followers not to elect somebody who could not rescue the country from its present predicament in the areas of economy, security and social well-being.

Speaking to reporters at the press centre in Kano, Monday, the gubernatorial candidate of the state, Isahq Bashir, alongside his running mate, Aliyu Sumaila, noted: “Yes, we have no presidential candidate in our party that is why we directed our members across Nigeria to vote for any among the prominent candidates. But somebody with a track record, honesty, dedication and commitment to his father land.”

Mr. Bashir said the party wants to practice true democracy where members have a right to vote for anybody they wish without undue interference of the party hierarchy.

“Even in Kano although I happen to be the party governorship flag bearer but we kept on telling our members to look at all of us that came out looking for the single seat and cast their votes wisely on somebody who is with a real program to salvage them,” he said.

Mr. Bashir added that if elected into office, he would do his possible best to bring the desired development into the state in line with global standards.
