Armed robbers stormed a radio station in Oyo State, making off with equipment valued in the millions of naira.
According to CEOAFRICA reporter, it was gathered that the armed robbers invaded Ajilete 92.1 FM radio located at Gambari area of Ogbomoso and also injured the station’s guard.
Ajilete FM is one of the FM stations owned by Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), a broadcasting outfit established by the Oyo State government.
It was gathered that the armed robbers invaded the radio station in the early hours of Friday and carted away equipment such as electric cables and other equipment worth millions of naira.
The armed robbers also raided the station’s power generator house, where they cut off armoured cables, and ransacked the transmitter house.
It was gathered from sources that a motorcycle belonging to the security guard of the radio station was also carted away by the armed robbers.
The 70-year-old security guard was also injured during the incident.
He was beaten, tied with ropes and hit with the butt of the gun in the chest.
The security guard has been rushed to a nearby hospital and is still receiving treatment as of the time of filing this report on Saturday.
The Acting Head of Channel, Kemi Ojelade confirmed the incident to journalist on Saturday.
Ojelade said that the BCOS management had visited the station to assess the level of damage.
“Yes it is true. It happened on Friday. The BCOS management led by the General Manager, Mr. Goke Adelakun visited us for an on the spot assessment.
“The incident has been reported to the police. The Area commander, Owode police headquarters, ACP Adigun Gbolagade has also visited the station,” he said.
