The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has explained why he did not respond to a comment by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, that he will be displace as governor of Abia State by the All Progessives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Briefing newsmen at Government House Umuahia at the weekend, Otti said he chose not to respond to Ben Kalu’s comment because he believes that power belongs to God and he gives it to whom he wants.

Recently, a viral video had shown Kalu boasting that it would be an aberration for him as the number six citizen of Nigeria and another party, and not his APC, would govern Abia State in 2027.

The governor in his reaction to Kalu’s remarks, said,” I am actually not competent to sit here to tell what will happen in 2027. I do not subscribe to playing God.

He emphasized that authority is God’s, not man’s and that it would be foolish of him to foretell the future.

Meanwhile, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sam Onuigbo, has cautioned political gladiators against rhetoric and actions that could spark crises between the Governor Otti and the Deputy Speaker Kalu.

Responding to the recent declaration by the Deputy Speaker that the All Progressives Congress will take over Abia State in 2027 in Umuahia, the APC chieftain currently representing the people of the South East on the Board of North East Development Commission, dismissed insinuations that there is a political dogfight between the governor and the Deputy Speaker.

He made a passionate appeal to Abia State politicians to desist from making inciting statements, urging them to allow the Otti, and Kalu to concentrate on their good works and service to Abia people.
