The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private candidates is set to kick off on Friday.
The council stated that the examination would conclude on December 20, 2024, and that this second series of exams would use a hybrid format, blending both online and offline elements.
In a statement on Tuesday, WAEC explained that objective or multiple-choice questions would be displayed on-screen, and candidates would submit their answers digitally.
The council added that essay and practical questions would also be displayed on-screen, but candidates would respond using traditional answer booklets.
WAEC also mentioned that candidates had the option to choose the paper and pen mode for the entire exam if preferred.
The council further said that registration had been extended to October 29, 2024, and that the walk-in-candidate opportunity was available 24 hours before each exam paper.
It said the timetable could be downloaded from the WAEC Nigeria website.
To assist candidates in preparing, WAEC offered various learning resources, including the WAEC e-Study Platform, past questions and answers books, and the WAECKonnect Platform for candidate interaction.
The council wished all candidates success in the examination and reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology for accessible services.
