The Oyo State Government has announced the commencement of a re-verification exercise for property owners and claimants affected by the acquisition of lands along the first segment of the Ibadan Circular Road.
The government stated that the re-verification exercise would cover landed property in the Alago and Ajota areas.
Our correspondent reports that the exercise began on Sunday at Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, and is expected to conclude on Saturday, December 22, 2024.
The Executive Assistant (Security) to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Sunday Odukoya, made these declarations in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday.
Odukoya explained that the exercise aims to capture data for about three thousand (3,000) property owners and claimants affected in the area.
He added that the re-verification process would ensure that compensation is paid to the rightful property owners and claimants.
Addressing the affected property owners and claimants from the Alago to Ajota areas, Odukoya stated that Governor Makinde is keen on ensuring the exercise is carried out promptly so that compensations are disbursed without undue delay. He emphasized the governor’s desire to prevent claimants from experiencing unnecessary hardship.
“The governor instructed us to listen to these people and assist them with the capturing process to ensure their compensation is paid quickly. This is a way of preventing them from experiencing pain and agony, which is why we started the verification promptly.
“As you would have noticed, today is Sunday, and we had to put aside other activities to ensure these property owners don’t suffer undue delays. That is why we are here.
“We have divided the claimants into two groups, and in each room, we have nine team members listening to them and collating their documents to verify their claims.
“The required documents include NIN, documents relating to their lands for those with clubs or buildings, receipts of purchase, survey documents, and any other documents to back up their ownership claims.”
