The President and Founder of the West African Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (WASPEN), Dr. Teresa Idichei Pounds, has officially unveiled the theme for the upcoming 2025 Clinical Nutrition Conference. Themed “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Hospital and Community Malnutrition Care in Developing Countries,” the conference aims to address the critical issues of malnutrition that affect vulnerable populations across West Africa and beyond and also to address the challenges faced in providing adequate nutrition care in both hospital and community settings in developing countries.
Scheduled to take place from June 17 to 19, 2025, at the Trauma Center, National Hospital Abuja, the highly anticipated event will bring together esteemed healthcare professionals, nutrition experts, and researchers to discuss innovative solutions for enhancing malnutrition care strategies. The selected theme highlights the urgent need for collaboration between hospitals and community health services to effectively tackle malnutrition in developing regions.
The President of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Professor Bala Mohammed Audu and Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola ,The Immediate Past Vice Chacellor of Chrisland University will be speaking at this historic conference .
The conference is expected to be attended by a diverse range of professionals in the field, including Dietitians, Medical Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory scientists, Policy Makers, Nutrition enthusiasts, Researchers, as well as students in the field. The registration fee for regular attendees is set at ₦30,000, with an early bird discount available for those who register before May 2025 , bringing the fee down to ₦25,000. Researchers and Post-graduate Students fee are #20,000 and undergraduates can register for a flat fee of ₦10,000.

It is imperative that we bridge this gap to improve the nutritional outcomes of our populations.”
The Central Planning Committee, spearheaded by Chairperson Pharm Mrs Ghinsel Nanret Blessing with her leadership and expertise is committed to ensuring the conference provides an engaging platform for knowledge exchange, presentations of new research, and discussions on best practices in nutritional care.
