Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The visit took place at the Vice Chancellor’s office, where Pharm. Murtala Isa Umah, the state chairman, introduced the PSN President and outlined the purpose of their meeting.
The primary aim of the visit was to extend gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his unwavering support of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Notably, he has been instrumental in officially graduating several sets of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students and has recently allocated a substantial N250 million for the construction of a new building dedicated to the faculty.
During the visit, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim also shared the PSN's intention to host the upcoming PSN Annual Conference, tagged Dabo 2025, in Kano this November. He expressed a desire to collaborate with Bayero University, seeking to utilize its facilities, including the Convocation Arena and the newly developed hotel, which is set to become operational soon.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the PSN President's initiative and expressed gratitude for the visit. He assured Pharm Ibrahim of his full support for the conference, noting that the Convocation Hall is well-equipped to accommodate up to 5,000 delegates, featuring state-of-the-art ventilation and audiovisual systems.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders from the Kano state PSN executive committee and other prominent members of the local pharmaceutical community, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the visit and the importance of supporting the profession in Nigeria.
