Another suspect linked to attack on Ebonyi community arrested

Operatives of Ebonyi State Police Command in collaboration with troops of Nigerian Army have continued an onslaught against hoodlums linked to attack on Amegu Nkalaha community in Ishielu local government area of the state.

This has led to the apprehension of one of the suspects, according to a statement released by the Ebonyi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, on Friday.

According to him, the security operatives acted on credible intelligence to target hoodlum camps in Amegu and Umulesha villages, within the Nkalaha community.

He said that the hoodlums upon seeing the operatives, opened fire. However, the brave operatives engaged them and overpowered the criminals with superior firepower.

The suspects reportedly fled into the bush, and one suspect was apprehended during the operation.

Ukandu noted that the operatives destroyed the hoodlums’ shrines and camps in both villages, recovering two Dane guns, a mobile phone and motorcycle in the process.

He assured the public that the police will continue to pursue the attackers and bring them to justice, appealing to residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the command control room on 07064515001.

On February 2, suspected hoodlums carried out an attack on the people of Amegu Nkalaha community in Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State, killing no fewer that 17 person and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
