Oyo Speaker congratulates Hon. Okechukwu Umeh as new Ohaneze President as he pledges peaceful Co-existence with the host community

Hon. Edward Debo Ogundoyin, the Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, emphasized the importance of unity and co-existence in his congratulatory address to Hon. Okechukwu Umeh, the newly inaugurated President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Oyo State Chapter.

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation,has inaugurated a new executive members in Oyo State.

The inauguration was done at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Saturday 15th of Mach 2025.

The newly inaugurated executive in the state is led by Honorable . Okechukwu Umeh, as the new President. The new executive members also include Barr. Aja Promise Chinedu, General Secretary, Evangelist Ijeoma Uchendu as the Woman Leader, Chima Ona as the Youth Leader, Peter Orji as treasurer and Charles Obasi as Public Relations Officer.

The speaker in his speech, further  stated, "This day signifies a new dawn for the progress, unity, and cultural preservation of the Ndigbo in Oyo State. As young Igbo intellectuals, we recognize the valuable role of this organization in upholding the dignity, heritage, and collective interests for the development of the Ndigbo."

Hon. Ogundoyin encouraged the new administration to embody Igbo virtues such as truth, justice, and fairness. He asserted, "As Oyo State, under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, champions fairness, justice, and truth, I want to admonish the executive members to remain transparent in order to lead the Ndigbo community to the promised land." He assured the new administration of the unwavering support and loyalty of the Oyo State Government, expressing a desire for collaboration that fosters further development within the Igbo community.

He concluded his address with warm congratulations to Hon. Okechukwu Umeh and his executive council, stating, "Together, let us build a future where the Ndigbo community thrives in unity and cooperation with our host community."
