FCAH&PT Kicks Off 61st Anniversary Founder's Day & Convocation with Engaging Road Show

Today, Wednesday, April 2, marks the beginning of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT) in Ibadan's 61st Anniversary Founder's Day and Convocation, themed “Bridging Past & Future: Advancing Animal Production and Health through Science, Technology, and Policy in Nigeria.” The festivities commenced with a vibrant Road Show and Awareness Campaign, energizing the campus and the surrounding community.

Students and staff, including members of the Antimicrobial Resistance Club, took to the streets carrying placards with powerful messages urging community members to “Educate your friends and families on the need to complete their medications" and "Don’t take antibiotics anyhow." Their spirited slogan, “AMR, Secure the Future!” resonated loud and clear as they marched through the community, sharing informative flyers about the importance of responsible antibiotic use.

The atmosphere was festive, with students dancing and celebrating, spreading joy while promoting critical health messages. The carnival atmosphere drew crowds, fostering community engagement as students showcased their talents through performances, traditional dances, and interactive sessions, making the day both fun and educational.

The event will continue throughout the week, featuring various activities designed to honor the college’s heritage and inspire future advancements in animal health and production. Among the distinguished guests attending the celebration are Prof. Garba Hamidu Sharubutu, the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Prof. Samuel Soladoye Abiola, an acclaimed scholar and Professor of Animal Science; Dr. Adekoya Olatunde Owosibo, the Provost of FCAH&PT and host of the event; Dr. Omolara Jemimah Ojezele, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee; and Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, Group Managing Director of Amo Farms.

Thursday, April 3: Founder's Day Anniversary; Pre-Convocation Lecture; Conferment of Awards; Unveiling of College Compendium; Fundraising Activities; Inter-Union Sports Competition Awards; Exhibition; Project Commissioning

Friday, April 4: Convocation Ceremony; Conferment of Diplomas, Awards & Prizes

Saturday, April 5: Alumni Day

All events will be held at Dr. K.J. Nwufoh Hall in Moor Plantation, Ibadan, creating an opportunity for students, alumni, academic staff, and industry experts to come together in celebration.
