Prof. Cyril Usifoh, the Immediate Past President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Co-Chairman of the College of Assessors, has praised Geneith Pharmaceuticals for its proactive initiative in combating malaria through the Geneith Health Competition. Speaking at the launch, Usifoh highlighted the importance of this venture, stating, “For you to have taken this bold step to address this problem, we say kudos to you, particularly when Nigeria accounts for over 25% of malaria cases in the world.”

He expressed his enthusiasm for the project's potential impact, emphasizing the need to engage students, especially those in higher education. “Taking the opportunity to invest and reignite this issue is quite welcoming, making sure that this opportunity is propagated by students,” he remarked.

Usifoh underscored the significance of empowering the youth with knowledge about malaria. “It is also remarkable because when they are more enlightened, they will be able to drive what we need to do to bring down this disease in society,” he explained. He believes that with informed advocacy, the younger generation can play a pivotal role in reducing the burden of malaria in Nigeria.

“We believe that other stakeholders will emulate your effort and work with you, and together we can bring the burden of malaria down in this country so that our workforce can benefit,” Usifoh added, reinforcing his call for collective action among all sectors involved in health and community well-being.

Prof. Usifoh’s endorsement of the Geneith Health Competition reflects a growing recognition of the critical role that innovative youth engagement plays in public health initiatives. By championing awareness and action against malaria, the competition exemplifies a united front against one of Nigeria's most pressing health challenges.
