As we reach the 59-day mark in our countdown to the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), the anticipation is palpable. This year’s gathering promises to be a rich exchange of knowledge and innovation, and today we honor Sir Louis Nwachukwu Mbanefo, a legendary figure whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the legal landscape of Nigeria.

Born in Onitsha, Eastern Nigeria, Sir Louis Mbanefo made history as the first lawyer from the East of Nigeria. His educational journey took him to the United Kingdom, where he laid the groundwork for an illustrious career in law and public service. In 1950, he was elected into the Eastern Region Parliament, where he distinguished himself as a remarkable orator and an effective legislator, advocating for the rights and interests of his constituents.

During the turbulent times of the Nigerian civil war, Sir Mbanefo was appointed Chief Justice of Biafra and served as Ambassador Plenipotentiary, roles that underscored his commitment to justice and governance during a period of national crisis. His unwavering dedication to his country did not go unnoticed; in 1961, he was knighted by the Queen of England, a recognition of his exceptional service and contributions to the legal profession.

As we embark on the road to "IFEADIGO 2025," set to take place from July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra, we reflect on the legacy of leaders like Sir Louis Mbanefo, whose courage and commitment to justice inspire us. This year’s conference theme—“Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice”—aligns with the ongoing revolution in healthcare, emphasizing the role of technology in enhancing patient care and improving practice standards.

Anambra State, often celebrated as the “light of the nation,” brings a rich heritage of leadership and progress, epitomized by figures like Mbanefo. The term “IFEADIGO” translates to “light has come,” embodying the hope and advancements that this conference aims to cultivate.

As we prepare for what promises to be an impactful and transformative event, let us honor the remarkable legacy of Sir Louis Nwachukwu Mbanefo and draw inspiration from his pioneering spirit. Join us as we gather to explore innovative ideas, celebrate our heritage, and collectively work toward the advancement of community pharmacy and healthcare in Nigeria. Stay tuned for more updates as we inch closer to IFEADIGO 2025!
