The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on Thursday sealed a visa application centre in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, over allegations of extorting applicants.

According to Daily Post, it was learnt that the visa centre, located at Metro Plaza, Central Business District, Abuja, was allegedly engaged in offensive activities, especially, against applicants.

Reporters were told that the management of the visa centre had been invited by FCCPC repeatedly for clarification but the invitations were turned down.

A letter of notice addressed to the TLS Teleperformance Company Visa Application Center by the Commission’s Head Legal Service, Nsitem Chizenum urged the company’s management to appear in FCCPC office by 2pm on Friday.

The commission urged the “company to appear, produce and provide all documents before it on or before 2 pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 to testify, make deposition and provide evidence on its failure to receive a letter of the commission to investigate a complaint and obstruction of investigation or inquiry, pursuant to section 110 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Act 2018 and to remain until executed”.

Meanwhile, applicants and officials of the centre have been evacuated from the property while the premises has been sealed.
