In a significant move to elevate the quality of certified driving schools and improve the transparency of the driver’s license acquisition process, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Command, led by Sector Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, has unveiled a comprehensive new initiative. This effort aims to educate the public, ensure enhanced compliance with driving standards, and address the growing issue of fake licenses.

Margaret Onabe, the Sector Public Education Officer, announced the initiative in a statement released on Sunday. She detailed how the FRSC, in collaboration with the Driving School Proprietors Association of Anambra State, has produced banners that prominently list the names of all FRSC-certified driving schools. “These banners will be displayed at all driver’s license centers across the state,” Onabe stated, emphasizing the importance of guiding prospective drivers toward recognized institutions.

The initiative is designed to achieve several key objectives. Among these is the goal of reinforcing the integrity of the National Driver's License Scheme (NDLS), educating the public about the significance of enrolling in FRSC-approved driving schools, which effectively discourages the patronage of unregistered or substandard institutions. “By directing prospective drivers to certified schools, we can ensure that new drivers receive high-quality training essential for road safety,” Onabe emphasized.

Moreover, the campaign aims to enhance compliance with the Driving School Standardisation Programme (DSSP). This initiative seeks to ensure that driving schools adhere to specific educational and operational standards, ultimately leading to more competent drivers on the roads.

A critical aspect of the initiative is its focus on reducing the circulation of fake or compromised training certificates. “By promoting professionalism and accountability within the driving school sector, we can significantly diminish the incidence of fraudulent licenses,” Onabe explained. This effort is vital in improving overall road safety and driver competency in Anambra State.
