As we count down to 5 days, the excitement continues to build for the EDO 2025 conference, hosted by the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN). This year’s theme, "Innovations in Pharmaceutical Care Delivery for Equitable Patients' Healthcare," promises to inspire thought-provoking discussions and collaborative solutions aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
In the spirit of celebrating our rich heritage, we honor the legacy of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi, the last independent monarch of the Benin Kingdom. Ruling from 1888 until the British invasion in 1897, Oba Ovonramwen presided over a culturally rich and politically advanced society. His reign was marked by remarkable achievements, but tensions escalated with the British over trade and colonial ambitions.
In 1897, a tragic turn of events led to the Benin Expedition, a military invasion that looted and burned the city, resulting in the loss of priceless artifacts shipped to Europe. After this devastating invasion, the Oba was exiled, yet he remains a symbol of resistance against colonial rule, embodying the resilience of the Benin people.
His legacy continues to fuel demands for the return of the stolen Benin Bronzes, reminding us of Nigeria's pre-colonial sovereignty and struggle against imperial domination. The conference, taking place from August 4-9, 2025, at the SIO Event Center, located at 8, Red Cross Crescent off Ikpokpan Road, Sapele Road, Benin City, promises to be impactful, bringing together stakeholders and professionals dedicated to advancing patient care in Nigeria.
EDO no dey carry last! Join us at the EDO 2025 conference, where we not only celebrate our heritage but also look to the future of pharmaceutical care. Don’t miss out as we count down to a conference that is loaded with opportunities for learning, networking, and collaboration. See you there!
