9th UI Conference of Biomedical Research Set to Explore AI's Impact on Healthcare

The Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, in collaboration with the Archives of Basic and Applied Medicine, is excited to announce the upcoming 9th UnIbadan Conference of Biomedical Research, scheduled to take place from September 8 to 12, 2025, at the Abdullahi Ganduje Hall.

This year’s conference will delve into the theme, "AI in Translational Biomedical Research, Teaching, and Clinical Practice: Opportunities and Challenges," inviting researchers, educators, and healthcare professionals to explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in the biomedical field.

The event aims to address a variety of critical topics, including AI's applications in disease diagnosis and treatment, advancements in bioinformatics and genomics, and strategies for managing infectious diseases, among others.

Prof. Oyeronke A. Odunola, Dean of the Faculty and convener of the conference, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This conference serves as a platform for sharing innovative ideas and insights on how AI can reshape biomedical research and clinical practices. We are eager to tackle the numerous opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in this rapidly evolving field. The integration of AI into biomedical sciences is not just an opportunity—it is a necessity for future advancements.”

Attendees can look forward to a series of engaging sessions led by leading experts in the field, who will share their knowledge and research findings. The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to foster collaboration among participants.

A special emphasis will be placed on the ethical implications of AI in healthcare, addressing concerns related to data privacy, bias in algorithms, and the importance of maintaining the human touch in clinical settings.
