In a proactive measure to ensure a peaceful electoral process, Commandant Augustine Padonu of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has announced the deployment of 600 personnel for the forthcoming by-election in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

This significant announcement was made during the August Edition of the Monthly Commandant's Briefing, which took place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the NSCDC Conference Hall located at the Area "A" Command Headquarters in Railway Quarters, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

The briefing convened a broad spectrum of NSCDC officials, including Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, and Divisional Officers, where Commandant Padonu outlined the Corps' readiness and commitment to upholding security during the electoral process. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies in Oyo State, ensuring a comprehensive approach to maintaining order throughout the election period.

“NSCDC is dedicated to working closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the integrity of this election is upheld,” Padonu stated. He assured that the Corps would safeguard lives, property, and critical national infrastructure during the election, reinforcing a commitment to a credible and peaceful voting process.

“Our personnel are well-prepared to execute their duties with professionalism and integrity, and we remain vigilant against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process,” he added firmly. Padonu warned that any individuals looking to incite violence or disorder would face stern consequences, reinforcing the Corps' zero-tolerance stance against such activities. “Our team will be on high alert to ensure the safety of all citizens and to protect their democratic rights,” he asserted.

In addition to assuring security, the Commandant called on eligible voters in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency to actively participate in the electoral process, emphasizing that their involvement is crucial for the sustenance of democracy. “Every vote counts, and your participation is vital in shaping the future of our democratic governance,” he urged.

The NSCDC, Oyo State Command, remains steadfast in its mission to provide a secure environment for the electoral process while continuing its role in protecting critical national assets and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
