The National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, has been honored with the chieftaincy title of 'NNA TUBELU UGO' of Umuawulu, recognizing his exemplary leadership and commitment to enhancing rural community health.
This prestigious title was conferred on him by HRM Igwe Dr. Joel Maduadichie Egwuonwu, EZE UDO 11, the Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu Kingdom on September 27, 2025 following the significant contributions made under his leadership, including the recent commissioning of a new Pharmacare Centre.
The new Pharmacare Centre, located in Umuawulu Community in the Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State was officially commissioned by ACPN during its 44th Annual Scientific National Conference, an event that emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving access to pharmaceutical services. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to offer comprehensive healthcare services, addressing the community's previous reliance on urban centers for quality medical care and medications.
During the commissioning, Ezeh expressed his vision for the Pharmacare Centre, stating, "This center represents a dream turned into reality—an investment in health, wellness, and hope." He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and community members in making this initiative a success.
“The Pharmacare Centre is a progressive model of pharmaceutical care, integrating professional advice, essential medicines, health screenings, medication counseling, and preventive care under one roof," he highlighted, reinforcing the ACPN's mission to transform community pharmacies into trusted healthcare institutions.
Dr. Afam Obidike, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, conducted the formal commissioning on behalf of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. The opening of the Pharmacare Centre is not only a significant milestone for community healthcare in Umuawulu but also reinforces the role of pharmacists in the local healthcare ecosystem.
Ezeh’s chieftaincy title reflects the gratitude of the community for his leadership and relentless dedication to improving health outcomes. "This honor is not just for me; it symbolizes the achievements we can accomplish as a community united in service," Ezeh remarked during the title presentation ceremony. He further emphasized that true leadership is about the impact one has on the lives of others.
The recognition of Pharm. Ezeh as Chief NNA TUBELU UGO serves as motivation for continued efforts to enhance quality healthcare access through initiatives like the Pharmacare Centre, setting a precedent for similar projects across Nigeria under the ACPN’s ongoing commitment to community health advancement.
