Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, has announced the release of all living Israeli hostages in its custody.

The armed Palestinian group added on Monday that the bodies of deceased hostages will be handed over later.

However, United States (US). President Donald Trump is in the Knesset, where he will soon address Israeli lawmakers.

He becomes the fourth American president to do so since the parliament was established in 1949, and the first since 2008. The president was received by Speaker Amir Ohana.

Before heading to the Israeli parliament, Trump spoke to BBC journalists at the rear of Air Force One, standing in the doorway as reporters gathered around.

He stated his role in the Gaza deal, repeatedly referring to his part in negotiating it.

“Everybody is happy whether it’s Jewish or Muslim or the Arab countries. Every country is dancing in the streets,” he stated.

As their landing in Tel Aviv coincided with the release of hostages, Trump described the moment as “amazing.” His visit is being viewed as a victory tour following the agreement.

When asked if the ceasefire would hold, he expressed confidence. He also reacted to the crowd in Hostages Square who booed his envoy Steve Witkoff’s mention of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I did,” said Trump. “I also saw the crowd cheer when he mentioned Trump, like really cheer, and it’s an honour.”

According to the BBC, the president avoided questions about what comes next for Gaza and offered few details on the proposed governance structure.

When pressed about the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) outlined in his 20-point plan, he said: “It’s going to be a big, strong force,” adding that it would “barely” have to be used because “people are going to behave, everybody knows their place.”

He also added that his “Board of Peace” to govern Gaza would be established “very quickly.” The plan, however, is tied to a second phase of negotiations, and Hamas has already rejected the idea.

Trump remained upbeat, saying, “Everybody wants to be a part of [the Board of Peace]. I’ve had calls from all of the leaders.” He described the development as a “3,000 year historical accomplishment” and a “unique point in time.”

In Gaza, the Hamas-run health ministry said medical teams have completed preparations to receive Palestinian prisoners who will be released as part of the exchange. It added that medical care will be provided at Nasser Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

Under the terms of the deal, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 detainees from Gaza in exchange for the freed Israeli hostages.
